Message From The Board

We hope everyone had a safe and wonderful holiday season!  The community looked great with all the holiday decorations and twinkling lights — great job everyone!  Remember, what goes up in the way of decorations and lights must come down by January 31, 2009.

As we start 2009, the Board would like to take this opportunity to remind homeowners that we have quarterly board meetings each year.  The first meeting for 2009 is February 12th, 6:30 p.m., at the clubhouse.  During these meetings, the Board values suggestions and input from homeowners, which assist us in addressing issues facing the community.  If a homeowner is unable to attend a meeting but would like to provide input on an agenda item or make a comment in open forum, you can e-mail or call any board member or contact to have you item heard.

Community Club Committee

The committee is still looking for volunteers to help with the numerous events planned for 2009.  To learn more about volunteering for these events, contact Christine Templeman (contact info is available on the front page of the newsletter).

Annual Member’s Meeting

The reconvened meeting was held on December 11th.  At the meeting, the delegate positions for all three Districts were filled. They are as follows:  District A — Tom Redman, District B — Brian Salas, and District C — Tom Gilevich.  Thank you Delegates for volunteering to serve your community in this capacity!  Also at the meeting, nominations for the two Board of Director positions, currently held by Tom Ebling and Gina Tosi-Smith, were taken.  Information regarding the election process to fill these two positions will be sent to homeowners on or about January 12th.

Safety Committee

Following are items of importance to help continue making Stonelake a wonderful and safe neighborhood.

Garage Doors: Criminals love easy opportunities!  To avoid problems, never leave your garage door open if the garage is unattended.  This is a CC&R item as well, but one that should always be followed for multiple safety reasons.  Burrows Security states this continues to be the #1 item being addressed with residents during patrols.

Mosquitoes: It’s cold but mosquitoes are still breeding.  These pesky and sometimes virus-carrying insects thrive in standing water, so please take precautionary steps to eliminate risks.  Examples include covering the pool and spa, clear roof gutters of debris, clean street gutters, and eliminate all standing water around your property.  Contact the Sac-Yolo Mosquito and Vector Control District at 800-429-1022 for a free inspection.

Keep Our Community Clean: Unfortunately, there are some who don’t take the proper steps to dispose of their cups, bottles and other trash.  Please do your part to keep our community and parks looking clean by properly disposing of your trash.

Street Light Not Working: If you observe a streetlight not coming on at night, please contact the City of Elk Grove at 687-3005 (24-hour hotline).  Include the location and 5-digit number located on the side of the pole, which is visible from the street.

Clippings and Leaves: With the Winter season upon us, please avoid blowing or sweeping lawn clippings and leaves into the street. Instead, dispose of these items in your grey-waste can. Blowing the debris into the street can lead to clogging of the storm drains, which in turn can cause flooding. If a gardener maintains your yard, you may need to instruct them on to handle the debris accordingly.

Community Parks: Just a reminder all three community parks close one hour after sunset.  If you see people in the parks after regular hours, please contact the Elk Grove Police Dept at 714-5115 or Burrows (between 10pm and 5am).

New! Parents Group Coming Soon!

Would you like to meet and connect with other families with young kids in Stonelake?  If so, you are invited to join me at the clubhouse on Saturday, January 24th at 10 a.m. to talk about starting a Stonelake Parents’ Group.  My name is Elisa and I am new to Stonelake.  I’m a stay-at-home mom with two little ones and would love to meet other parents and have my kids get to know others in the neighborhood.  We will talk about the group’s interest in things such as playgroups, outings for kids in the community, parents’ night out, sharing resources, community service etc. Moms and dads, and all age kids welcome.  Snacks to share would be welcome.  Please feel free to contact me at or 837-6150 with any questions or input.
